Wet Friction Testing
Friction Material Evaluation
A test procedure developed at Greening precisely
evaluates shudder properties of ATF for
continuous slip torque converters.
Tests run on a modified SAE No. 2 machine simulate sliding speed, surface pressures,
fluid temperatures, and interfacial fluid flow found in actual vehicles.
This test has been approved to be part of Ford's
MERCONŽ Qualification Program. Our
pioneering contribution is acknowledged in SAE paper 940821.
We can characterize the effect of continuously varying interfacial speed on the friction
behavior of a fluid clutch system.
