Friction Assessment Screening Test (F.A.S.T) Machine

The F.A.S.T. (Friction Assessment Screening Test) machine was designed as a low cost test system for the purpose of screening friction material for development or quality control programs.

Quick characterization of low temperature fade and wear of brake and clutch friction material

Constant work (output) or constant applied load test cycle

Test sample size: ½ x ½ or ½ x 1 inches

“Rapid Change” design allows the hot test disc to be quickly replaced so that a new test may be started immediately

In constant work output mode of operation, the approximate disc bulk temperature curve is displayed

During the constant clamping load mode of operation, the friction force can be recorded vs. time

	Computer / color printer produces a plot of the friction coefficient vs. disc temperature
