Spin/Burst Test Machine

This machine is capable of meeting acceleration requirements as stated in SAE 1073 and SAE 1079 providing that the inertia of the test piece is less than 0.04 kg·m² (0.95 lb·ft²) and the required speed is less than 18,000 rpm.

·        Spins passenger car and truck flywheels, clutch components, abrasive wheels, etc. to a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm

·        Test component is linearly accelerated by the drive system

·        During the acceleration, the shaft speed is recorded

·        A detector will sense the "burst" event and cause the disc brake system to be applied, quickly stopping the system after bursting of the test component

·        Burst chamber door interlocks to prevent access while test component is rotating
