GREENING ASSISTS MICHIGAN STATE POLICE IN REPLACEMENT BRAKE PAD EVALUATION PROJECT
The National Institute for Justice (NIJ) National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC)
and the Michigan State Police - Precision Driving Unit (MSP) recently concluded their study of
replacement market brake pads intended for police patrol vehicles. Testing included pre-screening of
candidate materials in Greening's dynamometer test laboratory, followed by evaluations in instrumented patrol
vehicles by specially trained MSP drivers at the Chrysler Proving Grounds (Chelsea, MI) and Grattan Raceway
in Grattan, MI. Grand Rapids (MI) television station WZZM-13 was on hand at Grattan to film some of the testing
and interview Lt. Keith Wilson, commander of the Precision Driving Unit
(2010 NIJ-MSP Replacement Brake Pad Performance Evaluation video).
The final test report will be released in late September, 2010, and copies are expected to be
available on-line through the NIJ website.
Greening is pleased to be included in support of an initiative so important to the law enforcement community.
Other details about the program can be found on the Justice Information Technology Network website.
