Model 1140
The Greening Model 1140 Compressibility Test Machine is designed to evaluate the compressibility of composites
including disc and drum brake friction materials, noise insulators, wet friction/automatic transmission
clutch discs, cardboard, ceramics, gaskets, paper, plastics, springs, etc. The test stand is manufactured to enable testing in compliance with
ISO, JIS, SAE, GMW and other recognized standards. The Model 1140 combines concise test control with
ease of operation, generating robust and reproducible test results and is an ideal instrument for research and
development, quality control, or other compressibility measurement needs. The Model 1140 is the only Compressibility
Machine that can correctly run the ISO 6310, JIS D 4413 (optional), SAE J2468, GSO ISO 6310, and GMW15334* test procedures.
General Motors currently accepts test data from suppliers that have utilized the Model 1140.
The control and data acquisition software, Greening Dyna_Works™, runs on the Microsoft® Windows® XP Pro
operating system. Test parameters such as load, ramp rate, temperature and time are easily entered by the operator.
In the case of a disc brake pad, a brake caliper piston simulator is used to replicate in service brake application.
At the initiation of the testing sequence, the closed-loop servo control system applies a specified force to the
sample at a predetermined rate with an accuracy of 0.01% full scale. This highly accurate control allows pre-loads
as low as 10 N (~2 lbf). Sample deflection vs. applied force is measured, displayed, and stored.
The test results can be summarized in user-defined custom formats or industry accepted test reporting templates supplied with the machine. (* GMW15334 TIP Certification pending)
